THE OUDALLE PLANT : A SPECIALITY REFINERY

  • The Oudalle plant is a "speciality refinery" manufacturing a wide range of high value-added hydrocarbon products and implementing state-of-the-art technologies.
  • The facility is classified under the SEVESO II directive, high threshold (high-risk plant), and operates continuously (24/7) on the basis of five-year cycles under the same requirements and the same regulations as a traditional refinery.
  • It is the Special Fluids production site for the entire TOTAL Group.

THE OUDALLE PLANT: SITE TEAMS

Approximately 100 people are on site during the day (including service providers). Outside working hours, a shift team of some 30 people makes sure that production continues.

The plant's operational teams are as follows:

  • a Process unit responsible for optimizing and developing the facilities
  • a Production unit in charge of planning and continuous facility operation
  • a Laboratory unit controlling products by analysis and developing new products
  • a Maintenance unit and an Inspection unit permanently ensuring the continuity of the site and its facilities

The site staff is completed by support teams: Recycling, Quality / Safety / Environment / Inspection, Human Resources and Communications.

THE OUDALLE PLANT: FROM SUPPLY TO SHIPMENT

The products processed by the plant are mainly petroleum cuts from the Group's refineries and bases from other providers. From this raw material supplied to the site by pipelines, by seaway (barges and ships) and by road (tank trucks), the Oudalle plant can produce up to 120 different products. 420,000 tons of products are marketed every year.
To ensure such production, the teams use 4 hydrogenation units, 5 fractionating towers and a blender. The storage capacity of bases, intermediary and finished products is 84,000 cubic metres (109 tanks ranging from 50 to 2,500 cubic metres).

The transformed products are then dispatched to our customers by road (the plant has 2 truck loading bays), by sea (the plant has a wharf to which barges and sea ships can dock), by pipeline and by rail. Some products can also be packaged on site in 1,000-litre containers and barrels.

OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY, QUALITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT

The Oudalle plant is fully compliant with the Group's standards and requirements in terms of HSEQDD.

  • Safety: the site complies with the Safety Management System (SMS) according to the DNV ISRS / MP170 standard. The site has been level-3 certified (out of 4) since June 2003.
  • Inspection: the Inspection unit was recognized by the DRIRE in 1998.
  • Quality: TOTAL FLUIDS has been committed to a documented “Quality” procedure since 1990. The site thus obtained ISO 9001 version 2000 certification in 2003.
  • Environment: the plant has been ISO 14001 certified since 1997.

Coming from Le Havre:

  • Take the N282 towards Rouen/ Paris/ Caen/ Amiens/ Zone Industrielle Portuaire/ Pont de Normandie
  • Join the A131/E05 motorway
  • Join the A29/E44 motorway towards Caen/Rouen Nord/Amiens / Zone Industrielle Portuaire/ Pont de Normandie
  • Take exit no. 5 (Zone Industrielle Portuaire Ports Est et Ouest / Centre Routier)
  • Follow the signs for TOTAL FLUIDS

Coming from Paris:

  • After Tancarville bridge, follow the A131/E05 motorway towards Le Havre.
  • Take the D982 towards Tancarville/Lillebonne/Zone Industrielle Port Jérôme
  • Join the A29/E44 motorway towards Caen/Le Mans/Zone Industrielle Portuaire/ Pont de Normandie
